Construction to begin on new coastal terrace homes in Coogee

Construction has started on the first of a range of quality new terrace homes at Salt Lane, the new medium density precinct at DevelopmentWA’s Shoreline coastal estate in North Coogee.

Thirty-four local workers will be involved in the construction of 14 terrace homes, featuring bespoke design and strong sustainability features, is expected to be completed in late 2021.

The architecturally-designed homes are being delivered by DevelopmentWA as part of a partnership with TERRACE Homes, and are being sold on a turnkey basis.

Four terrace homes are now available for sale, with a further seven coming to the market later in the year. Three terrace homes have already been sold.

Eligible buyers may also be able to access the McGowan Government’s Building Bonus and the Commonwealth’s Home Builder grants.

Salt Lane will apply a fresh approach to medium-density housing and offer a diverse new range of housing close to Fremantle, including a total 35 terrace homes close to parklands which feature a kick-about space, shaded areas, picnic tables and benches, barbeque and a boardwalk.

Shoreline, which will ultimately be home to 5,000 people in 2,500 houses, is a visionary coastal development. On completion the development will include a primary school and provide over 10,000sqm of retail and commercial space, supporting 780 jobs for Western Australians.

“The State Government is committed to providing Western Australians with a diverse range of innovative, high-quality housing options at affordable prices close to the established areas we all know and love,” said┬áLands Minister Ben Wyatt.

“Homes at Salt Lane will showcase the best in design and build quality, with a focus on sustainable development – delivering a coastal village with all the benefits of urban amenity.

“Eligible home buyers could see up to $45,000 in State and Federal Government grants available to them, making a coastal lifestyle even more accessible.”

State Member for Fremantle Simone McGurk said, “It is fantastic to see the next stage of construction at Shoreline begin, continuing the process of transforming more than 106 hectares of former industrial land into a vibrant coastal village.

“The development of the Salt Lane precinct, already underway with the completion of new community facilities and parkland in September last year, will provide welcome new housing options in a sought-after coastal location.

“Salt Lane has a strong relationship with the surrounding area and showcases how best practice and innovative design principals can meet the State’s changing housing needs.”
