Simone joins WA Labor’s Shadow Cabinet

WA Labor Leader Mark McGowan has promoted Simone McGurk to Shadow Cabinet, giving the Fremantle MP responsibility for Community Services, Children’s Interests and Women’s Interests.

Ms McGurk said she was proud to have been elected to the Opposition front bench.

“There’s a lot to do. The Barnett Government has mismanaged a period of record economic growth and is now implementing harsh cuts to important services,” she said.

“I’ll be working to make sure our communities are front and centre of everything we do, and people aren’t left behind.”

Ms McGurk also congratulated her colleague Peter Tinley, the Member for Willagee, who was also promoted to Shadow Cabinet.

Mr McGowan praised both new Shadow Ministers.

“I congratulate Peter and Simone on their appointments, and I know they will work hard to deliver a WA Labor Government in 2017,” he said.

“I look forward to their contribution to new and exciting policies to create a better WA and I know they are more than capable of holding the Barnett Liberals to account for their shocking financial management and cuts to important services.”
